The 24-hour Meds Race

How Komtur coordinated next-day delivery of an urgently needed medicine across borders, under cold-chain conditions.

How we did it

The call came late in the afternoon. A hospital needed a medicine to prevent rejection of a transplanted organ. It had to arrive within 24 hours.

We located the nearest supply in a neighboring country. The distance was manageable. The depot’s opening hours were another matter.

Our team explored whether the medicine could be released that evening, but there was no way to access it before morning. The delivery plan had to work around that constraint.

Komtur arranged for a dedicated courier to be at the depot when its doors opened. We coordinated acquisition, release and cold-chain transport so the medicine could begin its journey as soon as it became available.

With the clock running down, the courier crossed the border and delivered the medicine directly to the designated hospital contact within the required window.

The hospital later confirmed that the patient had survived the transplantation.

In an urgent supply request, finding stock is only part of the answer. Knowing when it can be released, how it must travel and who will receive it turns availability into a delivery plan.
